Solar Panels and the Softball Gang

Community

How much impact can a solar panel handle? Big Dog Solar invited the local Cyclone 10U softball team to help with a fun durability demonstration.

The players repeatedly threw softballs at the panel while the Big Dog Solar team watched for visible damage. Despite some powerful throws, the panel appeared to finish the challenge without a scratch.

Solar panels are built for outdoor use, but this informal demonstration is not a controlled laboratory test or a guarantee against hail and storm damage. Actual durability varies by panel model, impact severity, installation quality, and manufacturer specifications.

Big Dog Solar considers equipment durability when designing residential solar systems and commercial solar projects. Learn more through the Solar School, watch additional solar videos, contact the Pocatello-area team, or request a solar quote.

Host: Today, we are testing the durability of our solar panels, and we brought in the big guns.

All right, let’s try to break this thing.

Participant: Let’s do it, man!

Host: Time to turn up the heat.

Great! I am pretty sure this panel is softball-approved. Not a scratch!

It is no league if it is not big league.
